While she was a visiting artist at Woodlane High School in 2005, Cally Trench worked on Territory, a large (7 x 5 feet) painting in acrylic on canvas that shows her bedroom as a teenager, but seen from above. She worked primarily from memory, aided by imagination, and from the few objects from her teenage years (mostly books and records) that she still possessed. |

The project at Woodlane High School was a Creativity Action Research Award (CARA) project, funded by Creative Partnerships, which took place in 2005. The partners in the project were teacher Caroline Day-Lewis and artists Cally Trench and Alex Dewart. Woodlane High School is a special school in West London. The project involved a class of Year 10 pupils (aged 14-15), who were making work towards their GCSE in Art. Both the children and the artists travelled on similar creative journeys - making work on the theme of memory, and the end result was paintings in acrylic on canvas. |

Territory was exhibited in the 2005 Artsway Open and in At Play 1 at South Hill Park in 2009. It is now in a private collection. |
